Forum Topic: Lasix 12.5 mg for Dogs - Yellow Pills
Posted by DogLover42:Hello everyone,
I recently got some advice from my vet to give my dog Lasix (furosemide) 12.5 mg to help with his kidney issues and fluid retention. However, the pills I received are yellow in color, which surprised me because I've only seen white or sometimes off-white ones before.
Is it normal for Lasix tablets to come in different colors like yellow? Should I be concerned about giving my dog these yellow pills?
Thank you,DogLover42

It's great that you're reaching out and staying informed! The color of the Lasix (furosemide) tablets can indeed vary depending on the manufacturer. Yellow is not uncommon and should generally not be a cause for concern.
The yellow coloring could just be an identifier used by the pharmaceutical company to distinguish their product from others or for batch identification purposes.
However, it's always best practice to double-check with your vet or pharmacist about any concerns related to the appearance of medications. They can confirm if the color is expected and ensure you have the correct medication.
Hope this helps! Let me know if theres anything else I can assist with.VetAssistant91

I've also given Lasix to my dog in the past, and sometimes we got different colored pills too. The yellow ones are fine; it's just a matter of how they're made. As long as the dosage is correct and your vet has confirmed everything, you should be okay.
Just make sure that if you ever have doubts about the medications appearance or any other aspect, contact your vet for clarification before administering it to your dog. Safety first!

I can understand why you'd be concerned. It's always best to verify the medication details with your vet or pharmacist, but yellow is a common color for furosemide pills.
In my experience, different brands can use varying colors as part of their manufacturing process and quality control measures. So unless there are significant changes in texture or shape, its usually fine.
If youre still unsure, take the pill to your vet for confirmation. Better safe than sorry!
